Year 8 Artists have been working on developing their ideas to personify an animal. Great to see the development in their drawing and painting skills. Their work reflects their excellent attitude to learning and their ability to problem solve and persevere.

Mauri mahi, mauri ora! Do the work, get the treats! Many of our Yr 8 makers have designed and created awesome double sided aprons with at least 1 screen print. These fabulous outcomes are a real treat for those who put in a lot of hard work. Ka rawe!

Our Year 7's have made their first hand sewn outcome in our Fabrics room this year. They are gorgeous corner bookmarks for the reader in the house.

On Tuesday we had a fantastic day with students competing across all athletic events. It was great to see lots of children dressing up in their house colours and earning house points!

On Thursday the 18th of August, Glen came and visited the Writing Extension group here at Balmacewen. Traveling around NZ to talk to schools about his career, we were lucky enough to have him here in our school.

The Malcam Charitable Trust is holding a low-cost bicycle sale event during the school holidays, on the 11th of October to support the community to purchase low-cost, good quality and safe secondhand bicycles.

Balmacewen hosted this year’s mini ukulele Jam, “Jam on the Hills” where students from Kaikorai, Maori Hill, and Wakari Primary schools joined together with a group of Balmacewen students for some ukulele fun.
