Balmacewen Kapa Haka Ropu spent the day at Araiteuru Marae to practice their performance for the Polyfest which is coming up in September.
On Thursday the 7th of August, the Kapa Haka students walked from Balmac to the Marae led by one of the kaiako, Che who was carrying our flag. We participated in a pōwhiri to welcome us onto the marae by Whaea Tania and Whaea Hilda. After the whaikōrero and hongi we shared kai.
Next the students practiced all of the pieces for their performance: beautiful waiata and resounding haka. The students have shown much improvement and put in a lot of mahi.
The students were supported by the kaiako: Whaea Sue, Mr Pitts, Che, Whaea Ange, Whaea Jane and Whaea Mary.
We are having a Whanau Hui on Wednesday the 20th of August at 4pm in the kura hall. This is our dress rehearsal for our Polyfest Performance. We would love to have you come and support us.
