Year 8 News

A very warm welcome to our Year 8 whānau and friends,
This term, our integrated theme is “Choose Our Path.” As part of our health unit, we’ve had the privilege of hosting Tama from Attitude NZ and Racheal from the Life Education Trust. Both shared valuable insights with our Year 8 students, sparking important conversations about decision-making and wellbeing.
We're especially excited to be collaborating with Racheal on developing pre and post-session resources. These will be used by Harold to help educate students about the risks of vaping in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.
Our main project this term focuses on understanding the risks associated with vaping. Students will explore the most up-to-date and relevant facts, while also encouraging their peers to think critically about making choices that align with their values and long-term goals.
We’re also in full swing with our Year 8 Camping Programme. It’s fantastic to see every student getting the chance to be part of this enriching experience. The three-day adventure, run in partnership with our specialist outdoor provider, has been a real highlight of the term. The activities are a fantastic way for students to connect with nature and challenge themselves in new ways.
As the cooler months settle in, it’s important that students come well-prepared with plenty of warm clothing to ensure they can fully enjoy the outdoor programme. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and caregivers who have supported us—it’s your help that makes these memorable experiences possible.
