 2026 GENERAL INFORMATION

 

School starts         8.50am

Interval                10.25am – 10.45am

Lunch                  12.15pm – 1.15pm

School finishes    3.00pm

 

UNIFORM:

Our uniform is available new from: 

U shop - Dunedin

  

GIRLS UNIFORM:

Macewen Tartan skirt, Navy blue polo, Blue quarter zip merino Jersey, Navy Blue Tights or black crew socks with red stripe, Black Lace Up Leather Shoes (not canvas/sport or Mary-Jane style).  See our website for images of correct uniform and acceptable shoes/socks.

 

BOYS UNIFORM:

Balmacewen navy blue polo, navy blue shorts, Blue quarter zip merinoJersey, Balmacewen Intermediate Socks (black crew socks with red stripe), Black Lace Up Leather Shoes (not canvas/sport).  See our website for images of correct uniform and acceptable shoes.

 

Hair & Makeup 

Hair should be a natural colour, and long hair over shoulder length needs to be tied up with black or brown ties/clips. Headbands, scrunchies, makeup, false eyelashes  and nail polish are not permitted.

Jewellery & Taonga

You may wear either one or two plain studs or a small sleeper in each ear. Taonga are warmly welcomed and respected. Other jewellery is not permitted.

 

SPORTS UNIFORM:

Balmacewen PE Top, Balmacewen PE Shorts, Sports Socks, Sports Shoes.

PE Tops and Shorts are only available from U shop -  Dunedin

We have available an optional Balmacewen Sports Jacket  and Balmacewen sports hoodie which can be purchased from  U shop.

**Please ensure all uniform is clearly named**

 

The school Hoodie is optional and can only be worn with the PE uniform.

 



STATIONERY:

A stationery list can be found on the stationery tab.

 

DEVICES:

We are a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school.  To ensure your child has the best possible access to digital learning resources, we strongly recommend that each student has their own Chromebook.  Please contact us if you would like advice.

 

BUSES: 

There are no designated school buses; however public routes provide useful times for school purposes.  Please ensure your child has a clear plan in place.

 

PAYMENTS:

An invoice detailing all major costs for Term One will be issued early in Term One.  Payment is preferred via online banking.  We do not have eftpos facilities. Cash payment can be made at the school office.

 

CLASS PLACEMENT: 

We take every care placing students according to their needs.  Whilst we are happy to receive information that may assist us in assigning classes, the school cannot guarantee to meet placement requests.  Our classes are not streamed and show a balance of pupils from contributing schools.

 

MEET THE TEACHER EVENING: 

This is an early opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and other parents to discuss class programmes and expectations.

Term 2  Monday 20th April                to     Friday 3rd July

Term 3  Monday 20th July                 to     Friday 25th September

Term 4  Monday 12th October             to     (TBC)

If your child has medical, special needs, guardianship related information please inform the school office so these details can be added to your child’s notes.
