Speed, excitement and drama - as the Room 7,8 and 14 Dragster race off was held.

Last Thursday we held our first ever dragster race off for our syndicate. All classes and teams gathered in the hall as we set up the race off to see which car took out the top spot as the fastest dragster in our syndicate.

Over the last few weeks of Term Two and the beginning of Term Three our students worked in teams to design and build their dragster racers. This involved reading, designing, planning and testing prototypes in order to build their finished dragster. We were grateful for the support of Mr Henderson in the hard materials room who supported students in the cutting out of their balsa wood racer.

As part of their brief teams were also encouraged to write letters and emails to find a sponsor for their car. Some groups followed through and then made sponsor boards that lined our race track and some of our sponsors came in to also watch and support the race. After many races and elimination the final came down to two cars from Room 7 - Cam, Carter, Lachie vs Julia, Kate H, Annalise T, Mis P-T. It was a close photo finish and the girls car took our first place!!

It was a great day and an awesome way to celebrate our learning.
