Pink Shirt Day

Balmacewen definitely got into the spirit of things when supporting the Pink Shirt Day on Friday 16th May.

Pink Shirt Day is an anti-bullying campaign that started in NZ in 2012. It was originally founded in Canada in 2007 after some students made a stand against bullying that took place when a student wore pink to school.

The Mental Health Foundation in NZ is a charity that works towards creating a society that is free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health and wellbeing. This is one of several charities that our school has chosen to support this year.

On Friday 16th May we had a non-uniform day where students were encouraged to wear pink to acknowledge anti-bullying. As you can see in the pictures below, this is certainly an initiative that the students believe in and got behind. Thank you to everyone who dressed up or made a donation on a the day. Your support is much appreciated.
