Art Gallery Inventions

Exploring how people have changed the course of history with their creative solutions to problems was a main idea of todays visit.

John Neumagen presented different pieces of art and talked about the technology connected with them.  He talked about the inventions that come out of war times, and posed the question to the class of whether killer robots were a good idea, or not?

He spoke about how creative artists develop new techniques. De Vinci created a way of merging heads into the background. His fascination with birds lead to him exploring and designing many flying machines.  The invention of oil paints and paint in tubes took art to the outdoors.  Monet revolutionised the art world by revealing brush strokes.  He talked about Jackson Pollock and how creative minds can see many things in abstract art.

He introduced us to Chindogu, the Japanese concept of creating useless inventions.

We then went on to develop our own inventions using collage.
