Bags of Hope

Over the last few weeks our Year 7 classes have been finishing their Art work for the Bags of Hope.

Over this term we have looked at ways we can give back to our communities as part of our Health focus. Bags of Hope is a community focus where students donate and draw an Art work they donate onto a large brown bag with positive affirmations and messages. These bags are donated to the the Cancer Society who pass them on to patients in the Oncology Department for patients who are going through treatment.

We had Jan from Altrusa of Taieri who sponsor the bags and Craig from the Cancer Society come to our Year 7 Assembly to collect the bags. Teachers chose different themes for the bags from flowers inspired by Van Gogh, Art including a "heart", Dog art inspired by how pets help our Wellbeing, landscapes and beach scenes inspired by New Zealand artists.

We donated over 230 bags. Some of these bags will also be on display in the Golden Centre over the holidays.
