ROBOCUP

Balmacewen had a group of enthusiastic students competeting at the Otago Robocup last weekend.

We had 4 groups in the Search and Rescue category, 1 in the Soccer, and 1 group in the Theatre Production.  For the past term they have been working with Miss Dick in the Camlab programming and practicing, however for some this was just the beginning as lots of home time tweaking and more practicing was involved.

The Junior Search and Rescue involved programming a robot to follow a line around a course to push a can out of "the toxic waste".  All four groups had a great experience and learnt lots.  It was good to see a mixture of Year 7 and 8's taking part.

Aaron had been working hard on his soccer robots.  This involves programming 2 robots. One for attack and one for defence.  As Aaron was the only entry in Junior soccer he played 3 "friendlies" against Senior teams.
