Kiaora families and friends of Room 14

2017 promises to be an exciting year where, with the help of both home and school your child’s goals and dreams become reality.

To help your child achieve the most out of this year, Balmacewen Intermediate has developed a values and skills approach to all activities. The 2017 School Values of Respect, Kindness, Perseverance and Excellence will be the corner stone of everything we do this year.

The first 2 values of Respect and Kindness includes getting on with, helping, supporting and encouraging others. Being a nice person is a goal your child need to aspire to achieve. It is not only about what we do but how we do it! The second pair of values are Perseverance and Excellence. Displaying these values will ensure that your child will be the best that they can be. In Room 14 it will be about achieving personal excellence.

Balmacewen Intermediate has also developed the “Balmac Super 6” set of skills to develop independent learning. These 6 skills are…

- Aiming high and striving for excellence

- Working both collaboratively and independently

- Being a critical and reflective thinker.

- Persevering and being able to problem solve

- Being organised and ready to learn.

- Having a growth mind-set.

This year I hope that your child makes the most of all the opportunities that Balmacewen has to offer. Having a positive can do attitude to all learning is a recipe for success.

I look forward to meeting you at the Meet the Teacher Evening next Wednesday night.

Kind regards

Terry Tarapi
