Kiaora families and friends of our Year 8 students

It is amazing to think that we are already 8 weeks into the 2016 school year. The weeks seem to be flying by. A huge thank you to all parents / adult helpers for your help in providing a number of educational programmes. Camp helpers, Otago Museum helper, swimming walker… your efforts are greatly appreciated by all.

The Year 8 camping programme is underway with Room 24 having spent an exciting week at Berwick engaged in a variety of adventurous outdoor pursuits. Room 13 and Room 4 will be the next 2 classes to attend camp in the last 2 weeks of Term 1. Each class will conduct a camp meeting to discuss the roles / expectations of helpers and answer any questions you may have.

All classes are fully engaged with our integrated unit “Survivor.” The students are busy studying special features of creatures that aid survival in a variety of ecosystems. Designing their own creature that lives in a particular habitat is a meaningful way of show casing their learning. A literacy focus will be the writing of reports. We are all looking forward to the sharing of this work in the last week of term.

All Year 8 staff wish the students and their families an enjoyable and relaxing Easter break.

Year 8 Dean.
