It has been a busy start to the year in Fabrics.

YEAR 7 students have been learning about sewing machines and how they work.  They now know the essential parts and functions of a Bernina or Janome sewing machine and how to thread up and sew on them.  They have passed a driving licence and sewn an inner for their outer cushion,  They are now in the process of making a striped and/or patched cushion and will be bringing them home to show in the next few weeks.

YEAR 8 students have been refreshing their sewing skills both by hand and on the sewing machine and have created a case for a device while doing so.  They are now creating a drawstring bag, combining fabrics of their choice.  Students will then learn the process of screen printing, designing a stencil which they will screen print onto a t-shirt or chosen fabric.
