PBL: Breaking In to Wellbeing
By Sara Quelch | Posted: Thursday July 2, 2026
It turns out that if you lock a group of students in a digital room, they won’t just find a way out—they’ll build a better way back in.
Over the term, Room 13 has been heavily invested in digital breakouts. Or, more accurately, digital break-ins. Instead of escaping a dungeon, our students have been using their problem-solving and digital technology skills to crack the code on something far more elusive: Hauora (our holistic wellbeing).
The mission? Navigate the four walls of Te Whare Tapa Whā to solve their way to happiness and balance.
Cracking the Code
Students designed and shared immersive puzzle vaults based on the four cornerstones of Hauora:
Taha Tinana (Physical)
Taha Hinengaro (Mental/Emotional)
Taha Whānau (Social)
Taha Wairua (Spiritual)
A massive well done to Room 13. Your Hauora is officially unlocked.
