They get the opportunity to explore design elements such as shape, space, colour and balance when learning through the screen print process.

All stencil designs are traced and cut by hand using suitable tools. This requires really good hand eye coordination and an understanding of positive and negative space.

Many students enjoy trialling colour mixing and making their own shades and tints to print with.

A strength of this unit is collaborating with others. Everyone can talk about their learning and identify areas where they need to improve or attributes they would change.

One of the most valuable things to take away is that mistakes happen when we are developing new skills. It is vital to discuss them, problem solve and aim to improve next time.

I am very proud of the learning and reflecting that is constantly happening in our Fabrics classroom. It is a wonderful space to teach in because of our ākonga.
