Creative, comfortable cushion covers and inners

Join us as we celebrate another group of Year 7 sewers who have been working hard in our Fabrics classroom to develop a new skill set!

Not only have our Year 7 ākonga developed their understanding of technology terms such as; stakeholder, attributes and what a fit for purpose cushion cover and inner is. They have also developed a range of new practical skills to be proud of.

All ākonga have made progress in a short time and have successfully created beautiful cushion covers!

Students choose from a wide range of cotton fabrics. They know cotton is a natural fabric that is soft, durable, easy to iron, sew and wash.

Our inners were made using some of our waste pieces and a recycled polyfill. The polyfill layers made sure our inners were extra comfy and we felt good about being sustainable.

Enjoy looking through a selection of our covers. We think our fabric choices look fabulous and our smiles show how proud we are!

Congratulations to all Year 7 students who have taken home their first fit for purpose outcome, made with soft materials at Balmacwen! Our last rotation is currently underway.
