We have had 4 students who have been a part of the Student Leadership Team in the Town Belt Kaitiaki Project this year. They have done some fabulous work over the year and last night we celebrated the work of the team as well as some great photography in a Photography prize giving and exhibition at the Art Gallery. A big thank you to Bram, Matthew, Claudia and Marnie for their contributions to the Town Belt Kaitiaki project.

The Town Belt Kaitiaki involves a group of schools and organisations who get together with the common goal of promoting and utilising the Dunedin Town Belt. It is a student driven project with the intention of utilising the town belt as an educational resource providing children of all ages opportunities to explore interests in: science, recreation, language, culture, heritage, recreation, art and more.

Our school representatives have worked with students from other schools in the student leadership team to develop various projects.

To celebrate the first year of this initiative the Town Belt Kaitiaki group held a photography competition in which 260 entries were received. Congratulations to Olivia Richards from Balmacewen who received a highly commended award for her photograph (the magnolias pictured below.)

We are looking forward to seeing the project evolve. Soon we will be recruiting new students to continue the good work within the student leadership team in 2019.
