Year 7 Cushion Designers

The last 2 rotations of Year 7 students have been introduced to Balmacewen Sewing Machines.

The Fabrics room has once more been a designer cushion factory this term.  All Year 7 students will be familiar with a Janome or Bernina Sewing machine now and will have formed a special bond with a Bud, Bertha, Beatrice, Banjo ..... or a Jinnie, Jojo, Jud, Jerry......!  What fun and what lovely fabrics and colours the students have combined to complete a gorgeous cushion to take home to show.  They all have learned the parts of a machine, learned how to thread up, they had to pass a sewing licence before making a cushion inner.  After this, they chose fabrics of their choice to create a striped and/or patched cushion and thus becoming rather competent on a sewing machine.  Take a look at some of the masterpieces created.
