Year 7 Jump into June!

This term as part of our Health unit and focus on fitness and wellbeing, we decided to also look into a philanthropy aspect across all of Year 7. We chose the Jump into June Heart Foundation.

This was a great cause for us to support as not only would we raise much needed funds for the Heart Foundation, our students would get the added benefit of regular physical exercise over the month of June to get our Hearts pumping!

We have about half of our Year 7 students actively fundraising or working to earn money for this cause. Whether they contributed in a small way or really worked hard to promote or earn their money, we thank all our students, families and community who supported our students.

Today we had a celebration of the final total fundraised - an amazing $14,123.10 as of 7.00am Friday morning. This is an outstanding effort from our students and in particular a small group who went over and above to fundraise over $200 plus! Unbelievable! Qa-t-a Amun from the Dunedin office of the Heart Foundation came to our Year 7 Celebration Assembly today to present some certificates to our students and to collect the "cheque".

We then had a fun jump off session followed by the much anticipated "Ice Bucket" challenge. The teachers unfortunately, or some may say foolishly, said that we would let the students "Ice Bucket" us if they made the school target we had set. Well they smashed that and so all teachers set themselves up to endure this fun end to the Jump into June challenge.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped in some way - big or small - to support us this term:)
