Y8 Mystery Boxes

The Mystery Box Challenge is one of their final sessions in Y8 and always an interesting one!

4 Items that can be found in most pantries and student flats, 40 minutes and up to 4 team members and they have to produce a meal for their judges (classroom teachers). They compete against their learning partner that they have worked with all term and lots of laughs can be heard around the room.

Jackfruit is the component that many haven't used before but they soon find it is a versatile meat alternative. Some have canned tomatoes, or kidney beans. Mushrooms, spinach, kumera and capsicums often feature as a vegetable. A carb such as corn chips, rice or wraps can be seen and beef mince may be on a plate. The sweet box may include apples, chocolate, and cream cheese

This term also saw many of the dishes having to be gluten, egg or dairy free.

Some favourites as nachoes and fried rice always appear on the menu...but check out the gallery below....
