Kia ora Whanau and friends of our Year 8 community. Term 4’s programmes will see the students utilise the numerous skills they have been developing over the last 2 years. From experience, our Term 4 programme reinforces the foundations required by your child to springboard into the next stage of their schooling.

We are currently fully engaged in our Year 8 Challenge programme. This project based learning unit looks at promoting health and well being messages for the challenges that Year 8 students face?  One of our activities includes empowerment and communication skills. This will involve spending a day with Imogen (Girls) or Caleb (Boys) and involve looking at how we develop a positive sense of self worth and the importance of being compassionate towards others. A newsletter will come home this week explaining the specifics of each programme.

A major health focus this term centres around Vaping. Harold the giraffe and Maria the life bus coordinator are due this coming Thursday. Each class will have 3 visits to the mobile classroom where we will unpack this health issue. The focus is on providing information about both decision making and vaping to help the students navigate this challenge.

There are a lot of fun activities planned including the Class Day Out, Year 8 Touch Tournament and Year 8 Social. Teachers are constantly referring to the expectations newsletter that came home at the start of the term.  This reminded the students how important it is to keep applying their best efforts and to display kindness to all.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
