Over this term all of our students have planned, researched and written a speech as part of oral language programmes.

Today the Year 7 and Year 8 finalists presented these to our whole school Assembly. The finalist in each year group were:

Year 8

Mateo Mirosa - Why kids should spend more time outside

Emma Walker - Why kids should be paid to come to school

Jack Toomer - Crocs!

Guy Orchiston -Why being short is an advantage

Ariana Paku- Living in the Shadows

Year 7

Jack Orlovich - Fairytales

Luisa Makanesi - Ko wai au?

Thomas Knowles - Pets

Amy Boston - Peer Pressure

Alysha O’Connor - Siblings

Our two judges from Otago Girls High School had the difficult job of choosing the winners in each Year group. We would like to thank Jenny Seward and Charlotte Hayward, HOD and Assistant HOD for English for giving up their time to do this.

The overall winners of the 2023 speech cups were:

Year 7. Thomas Knowles - Pets

Year 8 Ariana Paku- Living in the Shadows

Well done to everyone!
