New Speed Limit on Chapman Street

By Alex Buttery | Posted: Monday July 17, 2023
Over the holidays the speed limit along Chapman street changed to 30km.

The changes to speed limits are part of the Interim Speed Management Plan (ISMP) which requires a reduction in speed limits around all Dunedin schools, helping to implement ‘Road to Zero,’ New Zealand’s Road Safety Strategy 2020 - 2030.

All school zones will adhere to the new 30km/h speed. The new speed limit signs will mark the beginning and end of school zones, with installation completed over the holidays, and came into effect on Monday 17th July (These changes were approved at Council on 27 March 2023.)

Balmacewen Intermediate's 30km zone starts on Chapman Street after the roundabout and continues until Lynn Street and includes Craighall Cres and Cohen Place. (check out the map in the photos) The new signs are in place now.
