Painted tiki inspired by Ngā Whare o te Balmacewen

Students have been showcasing their painting techniques on their tiki, inspired by our new school ngā whare.
The green tiki represents Whanaupaki which is the original Māori name for Flagstaff. It is our school Maunga.
The blue tiki represents Kaikarae which is the original Māori name for the Kaikorai Stream. It is our school Awa.
The red and pink tiki represent Arai Te Uru which pays homage to both the foundational waka to New Zealand and also our local marae.
The yellow and orange tiki represent Whakaari which pays homage to Dunedin chief and tohunga, Wharawhara te Raki. Whakaari means to be on display.
