Kia Ora Parents and Caregivers. We extend a very warm welcome to all families and friends of our Year 8 Whanau.

The focus for our Year 8 students has been building positive relationships with both their peers and staff. We have all been delighted with the enthusiasm and positivity that the students have displayed over the last 7 weeks. It has been wonderful to see so many Year 8 students display the maturity and people skills to connect with all members of our Balmacewen Whanau.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with our class trips this term. With our outings to the St Kilda Surf Life Saving Club and to Olveston we have been busy using our community resources and experts to engage and motivate our students. Room 7 had a fabulous time at Berwick Camp last week and the remaining classes are busy preparing for their visit. These experiences would not happen without your help so a massive Ngā Mihi from all students and staff.

This term we have been learning about both events and people who have shaped our local region and country. Each syndicate will be hosting a quiz night to showcase their learning. This quiz is part of the students' Project Based Learning (PBL) for the term. The students have planned and organised this event to teach their community about the history of Otago.

Nga mihi
