Mānawa maiea te putanga o Matariki!

Kia ora e te whanau

We're nearly at the end of Term Two. It's fair to say it has been an interesting time. Along with Covid, the flu season has been pretty brutal. At different times this term we have had up to a quarter of our school away, with some families getting stuck in the cycle of re infection lasting weeks. Let's hope for better and healthier times ahead as enter Term Three!

It hasn't been just student coping with sickness and I wish to thank all staff for going above and beyond in keeping our school functioning as well as we have.

By now you will have received your childs mid year progress report. The report provides an important marker in the year and brings the opportunity to come and discuss your childs learning at parent-teacher interviews.

We have an exciting end to our last week of term as we will enjoy a hāngī. As a celebration of Matariki and our end of term it's a very fitting event. The fire will be lit around 4am and food served around 12.15pm.

Lots of great examples in this newsletter of the excellent efforts of Balmacewen students. It's school as it should be; fun, enthusiastic and positive!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday break. Thanks to you all for your ongoing support!
