A very warm welcome to our Year 8 Whanau and friends.

Kia Ora Parents and Caregivers

Our integrated theme this term is called “Forces and Motion.” We have designed an exciting PBL (Project Based Learning) task which will allow your child to direct their own learning. All classes have enjoyed hands-on problem solving challenges from making a marble launcher, to devising a device to protect a dropping egg, to making paper darts...  Collaborating with others will certainly be a valuable outcome of this Term’s PBL.  We were fortunate to have Sir Ian Taylor pop in to share his experiences and offer the students advice on their journey.

The Year 8 Camping programme is well and truly underway. It is wonderful for all students to be able to take part in this experience. Next week will see Rooms 8 and 24 head off to experience the joys of Berwick. The 3 day programme with our specialist outdoor provider has been a highlight. The activities that the students experience are an amazing way to relate to the natural environment. Thank you to all helpers for making this experience possible.

Our Physical Education focus this term is on learning volleyball, basketball and futsal. The highlight this term will be our trip to the Edgar Sports Centre for a morning of competitions. Each class will be divided into 3 teams and play 8 games against other classes. This is Set for Friday the 1st of July.

Kind Regards

Year 8 Teachers
