2021 ODT Extra Quiz

This year 2 classes from Balmacewen entered the ODT Current Events Quiz. Normally this is held in various places around NZ but this year it was done online. The Balmacewen teams were competing with hundreds of schools from all over NZ.
Two of our teams placed in the top 20 in this competition which meant we were through to the Finals being held at the Otago Museum on our recent Teacher Only Day.
Members of the 2 Balmacewen teams were; Liam Davis, Joseph Uehara, Oban Voice, Tristan Harrex, Ozan Biner-McGrath and Dominic Mein.
It was challenging and fun! The overall winner in the Year 7 & 8 grade was a team from John McGlashan College. Our Balmacewen teams finished 6th and 10th respectively. There were a lot of topics such as; flags, Who Am I? news events and proof-reading. See you if you can answer this one … Which country did the word feta originate from?
Overall it was worth taking time out of my Teacher Only Day!
