Unfortunately the recent lockdown has meant the Dunedin Netball Competition for Year 7 & 8 teams finished 3 weeks early. Balmacewen had 6 Year 8 teams and 5 Year 7 teams competing during Terms 2 and 3. Most of our teams were sitting in the Top 4 of their respective grades and would have been well placed to contest the semi-finals. It has been great to see the Balmacewen players grow their skills and court craft over this season. Many thanks to the parents, caregivers, high school and university students who willingly gave their time and expertise to coach and manage teams this year. We really appreciate the time, effort and energy to commit to helping our students develop and enjoy their netball.

Ten Balmacewen students also took up Umpiring this year and did a fantastic job. They were diligent in learning the rules and gained in confidence with every game they officiated. Umpiring is no easy task and we thank the extra time these students put into being fair, consistent and also attempting to see everything in a very dynamic game. Well done girls! Thanks to Mrs Buttery, Mrs Wylie and Ms Brady for supporting the Balmacewen umpires.
