School is closed for 3 days.

The Prime Minister announced that from 11.59pm tonight that school will be closed for 3 days.

Kia ora koutou

As you will have heard we are in Alert Level 4 and closed for three days.

We have been here before and hopefully swift action will yield the best results for our country.

Tomorrow, I have asked teachers to make contact with your child, through email.

Teachers have a variety of learning activities available to share with students. These may include activities connected with class topics as well as some maths and literacy tasks. Mostly we'd hope that your child can be independent in their home learning. We suggest a maximum of 90 minutes of online learning per day.

If your child does not have access to a device for learning, please don't worry. We are not able to deliver any devices homes right now. If the Alert Level continues, then I'd hope there will be a plan to support students who need a device.

Most of all, we are here to support your child. If any home learning causes stress or anxiety for you or your child, then don't do it. Three days will ultimately not be significant in your child's learning.

Let's hope that this lockdown is short lived and we can return to school next week. Mainstream media will likely be your best information source. I will be in contact should there be specific advice directly affecting our school.

In the meantime take care and stay safe.

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
