Monkey Business is all about PROGRESS not perfection!

Some Year 7 classes were challenged to create a unique sock monkey that demonstrated the new hand sewing techniques they had developed.

In a shortened time frame we explored new hand sewing techniques such as loop, running, cross, ladder and blanket stitch. We learnt how to thread a hand sewing needle without a knot and discovered Ms Burden's trick when threading with thick embroidery thread. It was a real time saver!

Our unique sock monkeys show case our hand sewing skills at this time. They are NOT perfect and they do not pretend to be. They DO show progress, perserverance and patience. Hand sewing is a useful skill to master but more importantly, this unit provides an opportunity for students to take risks, make mistakes and learn about themselves as a learner.

Congratulations to all students who displayed a growth mindset when learning challenging new skills. I think your unique sock monkeys are perfectly imperfect ! Ms Burden
