Ballet

During Week 5 all Year 7 classes were privileged to have a Ballet lesson with Chloe, an educator dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. This was a fantastic session to tie in with our Term Four topic - pARTicipate - with our focus on the ARTS.

The session was a very full on workout - having fun learning different warm ups and ballet positions before putting it all together in a "Minions dance."

Currently the Royal New Zealand Ballet is on tour with their production of Sleeping Beauty. As part of this we learnt some of the moves that the dancers perform in the show. Chloe worked through the session teaching this in parts before the class had to perform their whole dance at the end. This was so great as it tied in perfectly with our focus on Fairytales and storytelling at this time.

It was fantastic to see the growth mindset and positive attitudes from our students to take part and give it their best. Our students have impressed us throughout this term with their involvement and participation in a range of performing arts.
