Giant Brain!

Wow! Last week an inflatable giant brain came to school as part of our Year 7 topic on body systems. This was a fantastic learning experience to compliment our current PBL focus.

Room's 1,2 and 6 were lucky enough to have the opportunity to have a session with Pani - who is completing a PHD in Neuroscience and Toni who is doing a Masters in Anatomy. They ran a workshop for the classes looking at the brain and it's functions and how we think and create connections in our brains. They also talked about how our brains develop and change particularly in our teenage years. This was another great ignitor activity for our current PBL focus on body systems. We were impressed with the questions our students had for the presenters and it was particularly relevant for those who have chosen the brain for their PBL model.   Thank you to the Neurology Department at the University of Otago for organising this for us.
