Year 7 News

It has been a fantastic finish to our term. In the last few weeks we have had visits to the Art Gallery, our first Year 7 group assemblies for the term, the Freshman Shield Tug of War Challenge, EOTC Pineapple Track walks, PBL sharing presentations and Athletics. Phew!

In Term Four our overall theme will be "pARTicipate" - with our main PBL and theme focus coming from the "Arts" curriculum. We have been busy planning lots of activities to ignite our unit in drama, dance and music. We are also having a range of experts come in to support this. Each class will have a dance ballet session with an educator from the Royal New Zealand Ballet. As part of our unit, all classes will also be writing and presenting speeches in the first two weeks, performing plays, writing fairytale narratives which will lead into a class performance for our PBL focus.

Our EOTC programme next term includes Rock Climbing at Long Beach as we encourage our  students to challenge themselves and support  others. Athletics will continue for some students who may qualify for the North Zone and Otago sports days.

It is hard to believe that the year has passed so quickly. We are so impressed with the growth and development we see in our students every day as they become more independent, confident and take on new challenges with a growth mindset. These skills and attributes are going to set them up well as they head into their last term as Year 7 students.

Finally, from all of the Year 7 team we would like to thank everyone who continues to support not only their child, but our classroom and school activities. We look forward to continuing to work with you in Term Four.

Ngā mihi nui
