Message from the Principal

We have enjoyed a great two weeks in our return to school.

Kia ora koutou

I'm very pleased to report that we have had an excellent return to school. Staff and students were visibly excited to be back at school last week. It was an opportunity to talk, socialise and play (in a non virtual way!) and to rekindle friendships.

School wide health and hygiene measures have been readily adopted and are now a normal part of our school day. Thank you to everyone for doing their bit to keep our school safe.

Many aspects of school life are returning to normal, albeit with some changes to allow for health measures. Sports will be starting back soon with normal winter codes adjusting their competitions to suit and music tuition is also back in action.

Please also note that we will also return to our full school uniform from Tuesday 2 June.

Our focus at Balmacewen is always on well-being and this has become even more important as we manage our return to school life. I know from conversations that families are also trying adjust back bed times and screen time to more school-friendly hours. Social media has also been very lively over lockdown and a regular parental check in for volume and content is always a good idea.

It's going to be a busy and fun term with lots of great learning experiences coming up. I look forward to helping everyone get the most out of the term, working together to make our school a happy and fun place.

Ngā mihi nui
