Message from the Principal

It's hard to believe we're at the end of Term 3.

Kia ora koutou

Term 3 has been just the way we like it, full of activity, events and fun.

I had the pleasure to watch our Wearable Arts X show this week. What a wonderful display of talent and imagination! A massive well done to all students who took part. The energy and creativity on show was really impressive and made for a colourful and entertaining spectacle. Thanks to all staff who managed and supported the many elements of this event and especially to Lisa Dixon for her expert coordination.

I've really enjoyed viewing the many PBL (Project Based Learning) displays around the school. The variety of ideas, problem solving and teamwork has been great to see. Our PBL focus continues to grow in all curriculum areas and is providing some real life context to learning for our students. Also great to see is the application of our Super 6 skills along the way where students are developing important personal and social skills.

I'm pleased, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to announce a new and exciting property project for Balmacewen. Our large turf area is to be extended and replaced at the end of this year. The project involves new drainage, fencing and turf. This will be a fantastic new resource for Balmacewen and our wider community to enjoy. Important contributions for this project have been received from Otago Community Trust and Lion Foundation. We thank both organisations for their generous support.

Finally, I hope everyone enjoys restful and safe holiday break. Thanks to everyone for contributing to a very enjoyable term.

Nga mihi nui
