Twinkle Twinkle Little Star... This week the Year 7 classes have a session with the Educators from Otago Museum who are here at school presenting with the Star Lab.

In our sessions we are covering the use of the night sky to navigate the seas as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Cook's expedition to New Zealand. We were told about  early Maori legends and about  celestial navigation of the pacific using their ancestral knowledge of the moon, stars and the sun.  This focus is also part of our Matariki studies where classes are reading, exploring and creating works of Art around the Maori New Year celebrations - Matariki.

Mr Brew spent some time teaching us about Matariki and some of the traditions associated with it and also gave us a lesson on how to find Matariki in our skies.
