League

On Friday March 15th our two Balmacewen League Teams headed off to Opoho Park to complete in the annual Otago League Carnival.

Balmacewen 1 and 2 were mixed gender and year group teams. Each team played every other team in a round robin. It was a fun day with tries being scored and tackles being made and lots of smiles.  For some of the players it was their first time playing League. It came down to the last games for everyone for the final placings which made it an exciting and nervous game for all.  

Balmac 2 were playing the Christchurch School - Haeata in their final game of the day, who had also won all their games. It was an action packed game with both teams giving their all, it ended in a draw.  We had to wait until prize giving to find out the results and to our surprise by the margin of 2 tries Balmac 2 won the Shield.  

A big thanks to all our parents, grandparents and other family members who supported us on the day.  Special thanks to our  coaches  who gave up a day to be with us.

v Carisbrook won 24-8

v Haeata loss 4-36

v Balmac 2 loss 8-28

v DNI loss 16-20    Overall result 4th

Balmac 2 results:

v DNI won 32-16

v Warepa won 24-4

v Carisbrook won 32-0

v Balmac 1 won 28-8

v Heaeata  draw 16-16    Overall result 1st
