That Was Summer

Here is a poem written by Brooke based on ""That was Summer" by Marci Ridlon

Remember the thrilling feel,

Of the icy water,

The ocean was asleep,

And we had just awoken it,

The prickly grass,

Stabbing your feet,

As you put on your jandals,

The splotchy sound it made,

When you crossed the road

That was summer,

Remember the suspenseful wait,

Until you got to open your presents,

The joyful look on your face,

When you opened the first one,

That was summer

Remember your cousins new puppy,

Her shivers from being slobbered on,

By her big sister,

She looked like a sweaty fat man,

Coming home from the gym,

That was summer,

Remember the wasps,

Buzzing around our wet bodies,

The ground steaming,

Like a hot oven,

When you ran to the inside pool,

From the outside one and it felt like a hot tub,

That was summer.
