Room 26 @ Long Beach

On Wednesday 7th of November Room 26 set off to go have a rock climbing experience at Long Beach.

Our whole class went off in different cars to begin our journey to the beach.  As we hit the road we all got the hit of adrenaline and we were so excited to reach our destination. As we all got there we could hear the water come in to greet us. Walking over to where the rocks were we all got the annoying sand in our shoes. Soon after Mr Kemmett separated us into our three groups which we would stay in for the day. The events we would be doing were Rock Climbing, Beach Activities and Cave Activities. As we parted ways to where our group’s first activity would take place all we could smell was the salty warm air.

As we got to the Rock climbing there was a woman called Tegan free climbing around the rocks to make sure all ropes were safe and secure. She came down to greet us not long after. She got us to walk across the rocks to start off with to get a feeling of the hand hold and foot holds. Soon after we all got harness in and got handed a helmet and then we all had a safety briefing. As we started climbing the fear hit us but we knew we were all safe. The people that were helping at the rock climbing were so cool. Rock climbing was definitely one of our highlights!

We all moved on to our next rotation which for us was Beach Activities. Beach activities was basically the chill station. You could play cricket, touch and build sandcastles and so much more! The one rule that was extremely hard was to not go into the water, but I think we all managed. As we were all chilling in the distance we see Mr Kemmett sprinting over towards us to tell us there was a pod of dolphins quite close playing in the waves! It was so cool as some of us had NEVER seen dolphins before.

As the last rotation was quite chilled out we all knew our next one would be real busy. We started off with the leaders telling us to get into the circle and if we come out of the circle we have to do TEN push-ups I know what you're thinking, no thanks. After we entered the circle we knew there was no escaping the leaders handed us a page full of riddles that we had to solve. Solving the clues took around five to seven minutes which I thought was a pretty good effort. After the riddles we got handed yet ANOTHER task but this one we actually had to move around, the map told us to go to the cave.  Entering the cave our eyes lit up on all these fake twenty dollar notes. Our task was to find TWENTY ONE twenty dollar notes! Some kids in my group pulled us to one side and the others pulled us to the other AHHH!! It started to get annoying but as we got to this real dark part one of the leaders shined a torch behind this rock and we saw a small penguin and throughout the cave there were a few more. After finally finding all twenty one we headed back to where we started and while we were walking it started raining! But we carried on walking and we reached to where we started and we were finally released from the circle of doom and got told that we need to find popsicle sticks hiding in a small part of the sand, if we found a stick we got a chocolate!

After searching for all the sticks we headed back to meet with all the other groups with the rain slowly going back to his home. As the rock climbing was finishing off we started a game of touch Girls vs boys with sand flying off the ball into our eyes and mouths we carried on with the girls pulling off the win at the end seven to two! Go girls! We all packed up at the end and said our final thank you's to the helpers and by the look on their face I think we could all tell they were exhausted. Finally we departed off back to school with a smile on our faces and sand in our shoes, let me tell you it was a great day!
