Kiaora Year 8 whanau and friends. The first 5 weeks of term have certainly flown by. Read on to find out about our exciting happenings thus far.

Cyber Safety. The presentation by Police Officer John Hedges on cyber safety was very informative, especially when discussing his role when dealing with cases of inappropriate online behaviour. The key message he delivered was the importance of positive online behaviour.. Having a moral compass that focuses on empathy and compassion ensures positive online interactions. His key question was…  "Are your online actions the same as if you were face to face?”

Touch. This term all classes have been learning the skills required to play this exciting game. Working together as a team has been the challenge. Last week we held our annual touch rugby extravaganza to celebrate, as a year group, all that the students have learnt. The weather was amazing and we thank the Otago Boys students who officiated. Touch rugby was definitely the winner on the day.

Active8. A special thank you to all adult helpers who participated in our Active8 Challenge. All year 8 students enjoyed working together as a team to solve a variety of challenges. The weather lifted on cue to ensure the smooth running of the community events. Congratulations to Chapman for taking out the 2018 Active8 Challenge.

It is amazing to think that there are only 4 weeks left! With challenge day out, social dancing lessons, life education bus visit… we will be having an enjoyable and busy end to 2018.

Kind Regards
