A healthy and active term four

It has been an excellent start to term four!

Kia ora koutou katoa!

We have enjoyed a very energetic first two weeks with everyone enjoying some finer weather in which to get outside and be active.

Physical activity for healthy living continues to be an important part of our school culture. Promoting the benefits of being active and enjoying sports or recreational opportunities is especially important to our young people. It is a great sight walking around our playground at lunchtime seeing sports practises as well as the hundreds of students in self organised games. It is something that visitors to our school always comment on.

As the weather continues to improve we also encourage you to ensure your child has a hat at school. We sell very nice Balmacewen caps and bucket hats at the school office! A reminder too that applying sunscreen is also encouraged.

Congratulations to both the boys and girls cricket teams who have qualified for the New Zealand cricket Nationals to be played in Christchurch later this month. This is an impressive feat from both teams to be in the top 6 teams in New Zealand.

There is much to look forward to in the remainder of this term. The term has plenty of activity both in an out of the school. The Year 8’s will enjoy their last weeks of primary education and make the most of the exciting and fun activities on offer. It's great to see our students working together to  enjoy adventure activities.

Our emphasis is on continuing to show respect and kindness to others and maintain high standards of personal responsibility through to the end of the year. I’m pleased to say that the all-round attitude of our students continues to be excellent and I encourage everyone to keep striving hard through to the end of the year.

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
