League

Balmacewen entered a team in the weekly League competition.

Over 4 weeks the Balmacewen team has had 2 games each Tuesday playing in a double round robin competition against KVC, Outram, Carisbrook and DNI.

After the first round Balmacewen was second on the table due to a default on the day of the Southland exchange against Outram. This meant we had to win all games in the second round and it came down to the final game against a tough DNI team.  We had only beaten them by a conversion in first round so it was game on!  A tough defensive game saw only 1 try in the first half to Balmacewen.  The second half saw DNI playing in their scoring zone for most of it but the team stood up well to the attacks and tackled hard.  A few choice kicks, and strong tackles saw 2 great tries including a steal followed by a full field sprint to take the win.  An awesome effort from the whole team with great team work and some very supportive parents, friends and teachers.

Several of the players have been rewarded with trials for the U13 Girls and Boys Otago League teams to play at the first weekend of the holidays.  Well done to you all and Good Luck.
