On Monday Room 7 visited the Art Gallery as part of our Impact theme -our focus was on plastics and the oceans.

Our session began looking at artworks in the gallery of early Maori lifestyles and what we could see they used to make their everyday items. We discussed what resources they had at their disposal, the arrival of the Europeans bring new resources and products through to the modern era and use of plastics. Our art works that were created depict the untouched underwater world and sea creatures- thinking about how plastic is destroying our habitats and killing our sea life. Our work is to be completed back at school where we will add some plastic rubbish to our display as a visual reminder of what we throw away everyday.
