Summerset retirement village residents were the audience to Balmacewen Intermediate Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs on Thursday the 17th of May.

Five songs were sung and they included three songs sung by both choirs and the other two were performed separately. The children had been practising for a long time and the crowd appreciated all of their hard work.

Summerset resident Mr Grey said “It’s nice to hear some familiar songs and the kids singing in harmony”.

Sue Mepham was conducting each song and had been working with both groups for over a term. About sixty kids performed at Summerset rest home.

Audience member Huberta said “I loved the first waiata and it made me cry”.

How far I’ll go (girls choir) and Flanders Fields.

Mr Grey said before the performance “We’ve had numbers of groups and a great variety of songs they sing and they are usually very good”.
