Basketball Holiday Programmes and After school sessions

We have our Term 3 Diggers starting the 2nd of August at the Edgar. The program runs for 8 weeks and is on Tuesdays for 1 hour each week. From 3.30-4.30 we run the players aged 8 & under. Following that session we then have players 12 to 9 from 4.30-5.30pm. Diggers is mostly for the younger kids (10 or under), but if your child is just starting out, or prefers a less competitive environment I would recommend Diggers. The cost is $70 per term for one child. If you have more than one child it is $55 each. I am in charge of the sessions and I usually have 2 consistent volunteers who I also closely monitor. Term 3 Miners is for players aged 10-13. Some 9 year olds or even 14 year olds could still fall under Miners depending on skill level/interest. Sessions are on Wednesdays from 4.30-5.30pm at the Edgar and they start on the 27th of July and it runs 9 weeks. This is the bridge between Diggers and our Academy (most elite level). Miners is different for kids, b/c once they are ready for Miners, they have started to grasp the fundamentals and can dribble fairly well with both hands, make a right and left hand layup, and catch and shoot on a 9’ hoop. They also can pass and understand a bit more about defence and offence. They are very keen basketballers and want to continue to improve and learn more skills and start doing more competitive drills. A lot of these kids have trialed for the Under 13 Otago Representative teams. I will be running these sessions, and I have one volunteer. The cost is $80 for the term for one child.
