Balmacewen Kapa Haka and Pasifika Group took to the stage on Wednesday night in the 24th Otago Polyfest Festival.

What an amazing specticle the Polyfest is and both Balmacewen groups represented the school with pride and passion.

First up was our Kapa Haka Group who this year have been tutored by Matua Nick, Whaea Te Ataakura and Whaea Tiahn.  They did a superb job with their lovely waiata, poi and haka.  It was such a polished performance and our group of 60 students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did the crowd.

Later in the evening was our Pacific Island Group.  This is the first time Balmacewen have had this type of group and they certainly did us proud also.  A group of 26 committed students were tutored by Makerita Neilson and Sala Ioane, their items consisted of pese, sasa, siva paki and siva.

Both groups looked gorgeous on stage in their costumes and already there is talk about next year!!!  Well done to all involved.
