Detail painted my lace dress and sparkled in the mirror’s reflection, my golden brown hair was twisted and curled into beauty, my shoes were gorgeous- white with a small heel. I sat like a proper eight year old should on a finely carved oak wood chair as Bertha (my maid) told me to, my sister Ann stood beside mother’s chair wearing an expression of joy . The room that enclosed us inside stood broad with beauty, the lace curtains were draped behind us , the marble vase that sat beside me had been polished to beauty. Mother had told me these were very important guests and this was a time to be well behaved.

A flight of marble stairs lead up to the tall, proud oak door carved delicately and with detail. My finger sunk into the bronze button, I could feel the cold metal against my hot nervous hands. I patiently waited as the door creaked open, a formally dressed maid stood proud in front of me greeting my parents and I. Eagerly I walked into the bright entrance that was sprinkled with joy, weapons stood straight strong with pride on my right, the maid left to allow us to prepare ourselves for the home owners. I had been enveloped in beautiful, stylish, posh clothing that seemed suit for only princesses and my hair had been done up to perfection. The maid I had been greeted with returned and we were lead down the glorious hallway, the walls were dressed ever so delicately with paintings and colour.

I could feel the excitement building up inside me as butterflies flittered around inside me. Steps echoed throughout the hallway the sound getting closer and closer, as they approached the room I was in. A heavenly smile was spread across their faces, a glow of kindness and helpfulness attached to them. All of a sudden I knew this was going to be great!
