Term one tick it off.

As we arrived at school on that first nerve-racking day I would never of thought how fast this term would go and all the amazing things we would experience in this action packed term!!

The weeks ticked by and every day there was something new to take in like that Friday afternoon that we had our first whole school assembly and it was then that I felt like a true year 7. Sometimes I would think that even though we had just entered our journey at Balmacewen, George Street seemed long gone and that we had been here for years!!

I started to sign up for new activities and new opportunities that kept popping up out of everywhere…….and when the time came to find our houses we held our breath in complete anticipation. Walking into the gates hearing the wonderful voices of the year 8s welcoming us on to Balmacewen to form a community of Balmacewen children. After the Powhiri I felt really welcomed and part of an awesome Balmacewen community!! Nose to nose we met up with people in our buddy class as we did the hongi and carried on chatting, finding out more interesting and things you would never imagine about some people.

I started new and fresh the week I was back from Wellington and not long after I was back in the rhythm of school…...as fast as I had settled in camp came! The highlight of the year!!! We drove up feeling as anxious as ever and when we arrived we got straight into it with all the activities that included tramp, cooking, rotations, spotlight and one my favourite geocaching!! Each night we landed on our pillow with a thud and got snoring away the moment we landed!! The time we had spent planning really showed because I think I might of over packed…...just a little bit. But one thing I did know we had definitely pack a lot of food a bit too much for my liking!

A new tech season had started and this time it was ART!! I think that after all the impressive stuff we had been shown at tech, art was now going to be on of my favorite techs!!! Fabrics was fun and when the time came to pick up our finished cushions I was kinda wondering what my friend was going think about my sewing skills but no need to be anxious she loved it so that was great news!!

Well that was the first term done and dusted, full of new things to learn and new opportunities to take but over all I am pretty sure that we have all had a blast and are definitely ready to start a new term!!! We all deserve a break with all the hard work we have put into this term and especially the teachers and making all our trips and camps possible!!
