Science A-Go-Go

In Room 1 we have undertaken lots of science based activities over the last 2 weeks to understand more about the scientific process.

We did the 'crazy canisters' experiment to understand more about fair testing and to explore what happens when a base and an acid mix. Initially we didn't think Miss Smart had a good understanding of Science at all, as absolutely nothing happened!! But alas things went a little crazy as time went on and we had some mind popping results!!

Next we looked at gathering and interpreting data through a 'traffic light' experiment using coloured water and salt mixtures. It involved the density of liquids. We had to use the data from our initial tests to predict which colour sequence would work to create a traffic light successfully within the straw. Some groups would be relieved no traffic was really depending on these traffic lights!!

Another day we worked in teams in an 'egg dropper' challenge where we had to plan and design a contraption which would hold our egg and successfully stop it from breaking when dropped from a height. It was 'eggs-ellent'!! Needless to say there were a few scrambled eggs as a result! We did however, have 2 successful groups and some great discussion and ideas were generated.
