We are incorporating a Makerspace into our Library.  Can you help us?

With the return of classes to their normal blocks, the Library and Learning Centre are combining to add a Makerspace to our school.

The idea behind this is to encourage students to explore their creativity by hands on making.  This can be anything, from coding and robotics to building models and using any number of materials to create stories. This is not a prescriptive place, it's a place to tinker, try things out, see what works and what doesn't.

To do this effectively we need help.  We are looking for donations of all kinds of materials.  If  you can send any of the following along to school we would be very grateful.  We don't want anything too big, as we do have to store it.

Send us:  Marbles, Small cardboard boxes/tubes, coloured paper/card, fabric scraps, buttons, threads, wool, needles and pins, coloured pencils, tinfoil, magnetic poetry, lego, lego base boards, dominoes, playing counters, feathers, coloured duct tape, old keyboards that we can strip the letters from, assortment of  plastics containers or lids,  pipecleaners, knitting needles, wire, plastic coins and play money, clean tins/cans, string, wax crayons,  in fact anything that could be used for a making session (however we won't be using paints as there is no wet area).

We will invest in the hi tec items and support materials for putting it all together.

Please drop items off at the Learning Centre.   There is a white bin in the corner under the fire reel.  We will be collecting for a while but hope to have the space running next term.   We'll keep you posted.
